Explore the prehistoric Stonehenge on a sunny day in England's lush landscape.

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument on Salisbury Plain in southern England, built in several stages between about 3000 and 1500 BCE. It began as a circular earthwork with a ditch and wooden posts, and later the famous standing stones were added, including massive sarsen stones and smaller bluestones brought from Wales, over 200 kilometers away. Archaeologists believe it was used for important rituals and gatherings, and its alignment with the summer and winter solstices suggests it had strong ceremonial or religious meaning. Over time it became a symbol of ancient ingenuity, and it remains one of the most studied and mysterious sites in the world.
